graphic designer, illustrator, creative strategist, and owner of byjessalyn
i grew up in a home where creativity was a love language. my dad drew pictures and coloured with me, and my mom let me be move freely through skating, ballet, and traditional Filipino folk dance.
growing up in a city coloured differently then the rest felt like living in-between spaces, too Canadian or too Filipino.
byjessalyn is what happened when i stopped waiting to feel ready. it's hand-drawn stickers and illustrated products made for the Filipino-Canadian girl in her 20s who feels chronically behind, loves cute things unironically, and is slowly realising she's not too much... she's just been in the wrong rooms.
alongside the shop, i work a 9-5 as a graphic designer on Book Outlet's marketing team. i also take on a few freelance branding projects here and there, usually for brands just starting out or looking to revamp their creative for a younger, sharper audience.
